Day 11 and time to share the 11th hour shoot, that appeared out of nowhere an hour before it started.

I had a call from a local studio owner asking if I might be able to help out. Aa client had booked the studio and unfortunately their photographer had been “covid pinged” in the morning and could not make the shoot. Could I help out and do the shoot? Literally one hour later I’m in the studio to photograph pictures for a makeup artist who wanted additional bridal pictures for her website and social media. She had four different “brides” for me to photograph.

Approaching the shoot like any other with people I concentrated on making photos that fitted the clients brief. I had the most time with the first “bride” as I also had to photograph details of the rather fabulous dress too.

One of the next “brides” was this amazing red-headed lady, who is a make-up artist as well.

Given that this was one of the hottest June days, and the sun was shining brightly through the studio windows I simply moved around a few large white poly-boards to bounce the light around and fill shadows. No artificial light needed and I worked through my “F2 trinity” lenses, the RF 28-70mm F2L, RF 85mm F2 Macro IS STM and EF 135mm f/2L USM.

Speaking of my F2 trinity lenses and looking at my 2021 Lightroom catalogue, it’s clear that the RF 28-70mm F2L USM is the most used lens of all by a huge margin, more than 2x as many photos as any other lens. Second place is the RF 85mm F2 Macro IS STM and third is the EF 135mm f/2L USM, these three lenses account for almost 76% of all my pictures this year. If 2019 was the year I went mirrorless, then 2021 was the year I went f/2 🙂

See you tomorrow for the last set of pictures and story.
