Wow 2019 sure flew by, and I pressed the shutter button more than ever. So let me share a favourite picture or pictures as we finish 2019 and head in to 2020.

Day #7

  • EOS R
  • EF 85mm f/1.8 USM
  • 1/200s, f/1.8, ISO 200

It’s always important to keep on learning, so early in 2019 I joined a workshop as an attendee, quite a change from leading them. A fellow photographer was explaining how he works in small spaces and his home studio. There was ample opportunity to take photos and work through a great range of primarily one-light setups. The photos here are bot taken with an LED ring light as the sole light. It’s quite a distinctive look, once you look beyond the catchlights. Smooth skin texture is the ring light speciality, but you need to have it optimally placed to get the characteristic circular catchlight in the centre of the eye. As above it also works with the light actually being in the shot.

Just quick note… I’m struggling to narrow down my selection of pictures to just a single one for each day 🙂
