Wow 2019 sure flew by, and I pressed the shutter button more than ever. So let me share a favourite picture or pictures as we finish 2019 and head in to 2020.

Day #6

  • EOS R
  • EF 40mm f/2.8 STM
  • 1/200s, f/2.8, ISO 100
  • Speedlite flash

What a fabulous opportunity to work with Bill again. If you think there’s a special recipe for great looking photos with people in, there is; it’s Bill! So much going on with the colours, a big Ezybox Pro medium octa softbox with grid to restrict the spill, and a blue gelled accent light. Add in a lens that I have found a new love for this year, the EF 40mm f/2.8 STM pancake and great photos are sure to follow.

For this second shot the fill in is along the wall pointed towards Bill’s left shoulder, the main light is above and angled down, slightly behind him. Light like this shouldn’t be difficult. I’m using E-TTL for the main light and set the blue gelled fill to manual using group mode.

  • EOS R
  • EF 85mm f/1.8 USM
  • 1/200s, f/2.8, ISO 200
  • Speedlite flash

IF the saying opposites attract could be put in pictures, this is how i’d do it. Bill in blue, Roxana in cerise. Same light as above, but a change to my favourite EF 85mm f/1.8 USM lens.

Take Bill out of the equation, swap blue fill for pink gelled fill and get all moody with Roxana. This shoot was so much fun.

Just quick note… I’m struggling to narrow down my selection of pictures to just a single one for each day 🙂
