Over the course of 2016 I’ve taken plenty of photos that have been fun, challenging or fortunate. For each of the 12 days (of Christmas) I’m sharing one of my favourite pictures from 2016.
#10 – Hanging on
I had gone to the local MotoX practice track to shoot action photos with Speedlites and I sure did. As the session neared it’s end the sun was just in the right place to light the riders coming up a climb on the track towards me. The EOS-1D X Mark II thrives on this kind of action and even wide open on the 70-200mm each frame in the sequence – and there are many frames – is sharp. However the task is to find the best one and this is my choice. I love this one with the rider hanging on, as the machine pushes on up the hill throwing mud in to the air, and light, behind.
This is one of only two of my twelve pictures that were taken using a zoom lens. Obviously I’ve had a prime lens kind of year.
Big thanks to the riders, marshals and organisers at Slough MotoX Parc.
