Over the course of 2016 I’ve taken plenty of photos that have been fun, challenging or fortunate. For each of the 12 days (of Christmas) I’m sharing one of my favourite pictures from 2016.

#7 – Abby

I booked a shoot with Abby to replace one that had been cancelled. The aim was to shoot some soft, natural, relaxed photos. I was experimenting with 1/4 CTB gels on the flashes and raising the Kelvin white balance. This shot is all flash, 1/200s at ISO 100 indoors will almost always reduce the ambient daylight to nothing. Abby is relaxed on her sofa and the flash is just out of the frame.

We had a good shoot, and for me it was my last shoot with the EOS 5D Mark III, the 5D Mark IV was going to be mine shortly after.

Camera settings

  • EOS5D Mark III
  • EF 85mm f/1.8 USM lens
  • 1/200s, f/2.5, ISO 100
  • Speedlite flashes

See you tomorrow for another picture…
