Over the course of 2016 I’ve taken plenty of photos that have been fun, challenging or fortunate. For each of the 12 days (of Christmas) I’m sharing one of my favourite pictures from 2016.

Summer themed location shoot with Speedlites

#1 – Emma (in a shed)

This was a shoot that changed due to the weather. It was July, we’d started off on our shoot outside in dull conditions at one location, but after the rain got heavy we changed to the plan B location; a friends garden shed studio. With the rain falling outside the garden studio, and endless flat light, I used a couple of Speedlites in a Lastolite Ezybox II medium to fill the space with light.

Yes it’s overcast daylight from the left of the frame, and Emma is next to the window. But I’m filling the shadows and much of the room with the flash, and yes it’s in E-TTL.

I’ve been really fortunate to work with Emma on many occasions this year because it’s fun and we make good pictures. for this shot I also have to say a huge thank you to Julia for the use of her garden studio at such short notice 🙂
